Your Gift Restores Homes, Lives, and Our Lafourche and Terrebonne Communities
Bayou Community Foundation is accepting gifts to the Bayou Recovery Fund to support our ongoing Hurricane Ida and Hurricane Francine Housing Recovery programs in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes.
YOUR TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION will fund home repairs and new builds for under-resourced residents impacted by the storms in our under-served bayou communities, many of whom are still living in homes severely damaged by the hurricanes or in temporary campers.
Your gift stays right here to help neighbors in need and our unique and precious coastal community rebuild.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, our Bayou Region—Lafourche, Terrebonne, and Grand Isle—faced unprecedented devastation. Over the past three years, the Bayou Community Foundation (BCF) has responded by developing, managing, and funding an impactful and innovative housing recovery program for our under-resourced and under-served residents
Through the Rebuild Dulac, Rebuild South Lafourche, and Rebuild Grand Isle programs, BCF has delivered assistance to 530 households, completing 53 new homes and conducting repairs on over 480 homes.
Through the power of philanthropy and volunteers, we have brought over $8 million in building materials and utilized 100,000 volunteer hours to rebuild homes and lives of Hurricane Ida survivors since November 2022.
Thank You
We are immensely grateful to our donors for making these tremendous impacts possible since 2021. Together, we can continue to rebuild homes, restore hope, and strengthen the future of our beautiful Bayou Region.
About the Bayou Recovery Fund
Following Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike, and the 2010 Gulf oil spill, BCF founders realized that communities across the Gulf coast received aid because they had a “bucket” in place, most often in the form of a community foundation. Our Bayou Region lacked that bucket and missed out on opportunities to directly receive contributions for recovery. A community foundation was greatly needed here.
In 2012, local residents and business owners came together to establish the Bayou Community Foundation, specifically serving Lafourche Parish, Terrebonne Parish, and Grand Isle in coastal southeast Louisiana. With BCF, our region can now receive private contributions for relief and recovery if and when the next disaster strikes, and donors can be confident that gifts will be used strategically to directly benefit local disaster victims and help our community rebuild.
Gifts to the Bayou Community Foundation’s Bayou Recovery Fund may be made at any time and qualify for the maximum deductions allowed for charitable donations.
Your donations ahead of a disaster help us to build our bucket now, allowing BCF to act quickly to help organizations on the ground with initial relief efforts immediately following a storm or disaster. Donations during and after a storm will be important to provide for the immediate and long-term recovery needs of our Bayou Region community.
